The First Steps
At Lakeview Doodles, we try to ensure our puppies go to families who are responsible and able to give their puppy a loving and caring home. We know that all puppies (especially ours!) are absolutely adorable, however, you need to be able to commit to making your dog a member of your family for many, many years. Please keep in mind they require regular vet check-ups and vaccinations, a healthy diet, daily exercise, and lots of love and attention. In return, they will reward you with love, devotion, companionship, and security.
If you are ready to take on this rewarding challenge, PLEASE FILL OUT AN APPLICATION FORM. Our application may seem very detailed, but we try very hard to match up the personality of the puppy to the appropriate family. Placement will come approximately 7 weeks after the puppies are born, by which time we are better able to determine the coat type, size, and personality of the future adult dog. We do not do our puppy allocations based on when deposits are received or a “picking order.”
Once your application has been received, we will contact you to set up a convenient time to discuss, by phone, more of the details of what you are looking for in a new little family member. Upon acceptance, a $250 non-refundable reservation fee is required within 24 hours to hold your spot. Please do not send a reservation fee until your application has been reviewed, and we have talked by phone.
We recommend using PayPal to make the reservation fee, which will ensure it is received within the one-day time frame.
If you prefer to send a check, please make it payable to Lakeview Doodles and mail it to:

Once your reservation fee is received, your name will be added to our reservation list.
What Comes Next
When the puppies are born, we refer back to our main reservation list. From that, we match up litters with families in the order in which the applications are received, based on preferred size range and gender. Once the puppies are approximately one week old, we send their official birth announcement. If for any reason the timing does not work out for you, we can simply add you back to the top of the list for a different litter.
At approximately 6-7 weeks old, we have a “Zoom Play Day!” Each family will receive an invitation via email to their litter’s Zoom the day prior, as well as a prerecorded informative Zoom to watch before their litter’s Zoom Play Day. In our prerecorded Zoom, Beth will go over all kinds of information that covers everything you need to know! This includes the allocation process and how, with the current pandemic, we are handling our contactless puppy pick-ups to ensure everyone’s continued safety. We also talk about their daily schedule, feeding, potty training, crate training, vetting, grooming, and much more! Our Zoom Puppy Play Day is a time to “meet” the litter, watch them play, and ask any follow-up questions you may have after watching our informative Zoom. Please note that this is not a time to choose your puppy, but to enjoy watching them play!
We start our allocation process when the pups are 7 weeks old and have had a full physical by our vet. At that time, we will contact each family on the litter’s list to talk more about their home environment, any known dog allergies, family members who live in the household, other pets, home environment, etc. Then, based on each puppy, we choose who we feel will be the best fit for your family. As a side note, our past families have always said we picked out the perfect puppy for their family!
Our pups can go to their new homes once they are 8 weeks old. We usually schedule one delivery trip to Albany, NY and/or Syracuse, NY for our families who find it easier to meet us at one of these locations. This is usually the Friday on or after the puppies turn 8 weeks old. Please note there is an additional fee of $350 for this service.
Alternatively, you are also always welcome to pick your little one up from us. We have our group pick-up on either Saturday or Sunday following the puppies turning 8 weeks old.
If you are unable to pick up your little one on the group pick-up date, there will be a $40/night boarding fee. Please let us know as much in advance as possible to ensure we are able to provide this service.
What Your Puppy Comes Home With
Your puppy will come home with a blanket that can be used at home in their crate. They will also come home with a slip-leash, a hard bone, and a soft toy. They will also have enough of their food, Purina Pro Plan Puppy Shredded Blend Chicken & Rice, for 7-10 days. You will also receive a physical form signed by our vet, along with a record of their dewormer schedule and vaccination history.
Each puppy will be microchipped before going home, and you will receive instructions on how to register the chip in your name in your binder.
Your Lakeview Doodles puppy also comes with a 2-YEAR LIMITED HEALTH GUARANTEE. A signed spay/neuter contract is required.
